Alright ladies and gentlemen, here’s a shock for you all. I have NOT tried Thrive Le-Vel. I do however know somebody who sells it, and have deeply been enticed by all the Facebook publicity that it has gotten. I have considered it of course; I just am not convinced that this magic patch can fix any problem. The Thrive Experience is said to be an 8 week plan that helps people reach peak physical and mental levels- you will live, look, and feel Ultra-Premium (www.level.com) or so they say. The experience consists of capsules, shakes and a derma fusion technology (DFT) patch (aka magic patch J). Got a hang-over? Get a patch. Headache? Patch! Measles…Patch? Who knows, maybe this is the end all cure to everything, but I’m sure you sense my skepticism. I have read the reviews and I get no sway one way or another, this experience receives 5 stars or 1 star almost every time with comments such as, “It did nothing for me.” “Do not run out you will crash!” Then you have the opposite end of the spectrum, “Life changing, I cannot live without Thrive.” “Best thing that ever happened to me, I feel amazing!”

The company is relatively new, but they have made huge gains in the multi-level marketing industry. Not only are they representing their product but they are pushing their brand name as well, which has proven successful for them. I have seen the potential to earn big bucks with this company from the people around me who have soared in selling, and all there Facebook friends know it. I do not think this company is a scam by any means, I just have yet to get proof that this is real stuff and there are no side effects! I would be exuberant to hear your thoughts, experiences, and everything else you know or feel about Thrive, because this is one confused lady who just wants to know more!

Simply my opinion (although I am still willing to try anything) but there is no pill, patch, shake, etc. that will benefit you long-term. Only hard work and dedication can do this!

Who-Doesnt-Have-25min

Everybody wants to work out but quite often you hear the same excuses, “I don’t have time!” I have to admit I was in this same boat for many years. I tried P90X but who has time for over an hour of directed work outs?! Well, I have found the perfect solution… 25 minute workouts! Who doesn’t have an extra 25 minutes to spare in their day?! Okay, I admit, sometimes even that is hard, but with some dedication and will power it is easier to get in a 25 minutes workout knowing that you are getting the best bang for your time. T25 offers just that!

Sean T has created a program that is 25 minutes of nonstop exercises designed to improve every aspect of your body and get you working just as hard as you would for an hour long workout. He uses focus interval training and when you think your body can’t take anymore he pushes you just a little bit further! The best part about this workout is that it starts with simple exercises and the first set of DVDs is your Alpha set which gives you the opportunity to learn the moves, and slowly build your core muscles. Alpha consists of cardio, speed 1.0, total body circuit, ab intervals, and lower focus. Just can’t handle that much exercising yet, that’s okay- they have a modifier for every video! If you find yourself struggling through, Sean encourages everyone just to keep moving and the modifier gives you easier ways to do just that. How great is that?! 5 days a week, 25 minutes a day for 5 weeks….then… you switch to Beta workouts!

Step it up just a little bit more! Once you have your base workouts nailed you are ready to increase the level of intensity just a bit (with the option of a modifier again). This Beta cycle consists of core cardio, speed 2.0, rip’t circuit, dynamic core and upper focus. Again, 5 days a week, 25 minutes a day for 5 weeks. In addition to these workouts you are also given a stretching DVD that helps you cool down from a week of hard work. A quick, easy solution that gives you real results, I’m loving this work out for sure!

Meal Replacement Shakes

I have been one to try just about anything when it comes to weight loss! One of the easiest things for me has been doing a meal replacing shake for either breakfast or dinner. It’s super convenient, and usually they aren’t the worst tasting either! It always gives me a way to “healthily” get my chocolate fix! J Anyways… not all meal replacement shakes are as good as they claim to be and it can be difficult to know what is best for you. So what is the best shake?

There are so many different kinds of shakes, so I am going to keep this simple and go with the most commonly known, and the best for you so there isn’t any information overload!

Shakeology- this is what I am currently using right now, yuck! I tried the chocolate and I can hardly choke it down. The cost is quite outrageous too, however the nutritional value is great for this shake so overall it has been rated with an A-. Not terrible, if you can get past the taste (and of course the taste is just my preference).

Advocare- I used this right before I tried Shakeology. Loved the taste- this was my ultimate chocolate fix!! However, the nutritional value, not so hot, and the amount of sugar in this shake is undesirable. The Price was however somewhat cheaper than Shakeology but the lack of nutritional value left this shake rated at a B+.

Visalus- I have not tried this for some time but it has actually been my personal favorite. The taste was great, the price was reasonable and the nutritional value was exceedingly appropriate for a replacement shake. The appetite blocker of this shake was a little bit lower but its overall rating was an A.

Slimfast- Alright, everybody who has considered a meal replacement shake has likely tried Slimfast. It is located right at Walmart and isn’t terribly expensive, of course you’re going to give it a whirl! Best of all, they don’t taste too bad. However, they lack in both appetite suppressants and in nutritional value so overall with a B rating this may not be the best choice to spend your money on.

Alright are you ready for the number one shake?! (completely based on my opinion and the minimal reading that I have done on the topic- please feel free to share your ideas and recommendations should you feel differently!)

IdealShape- This shake will give you 50 percent of your recommended daily intake for vitamins and nutrients which is a pretty good supplement! It is a low carb drink and does a great job of curbing hunger. The taste is desirable and the overall rating is an A+. It seems to be the shake of choice for most!

A calorie is a unit of food energy used like a measurement tool. We need calories to help fuel our bodies but it is important that we choose healthy calories because we are in need of nutrients without a lot of calories! We often encounter empty calories when we eat things with sugars in them or solid fats. These are the unhealthy calories you want to stay away from; they add calories to your diet, without adding nutrients. Foods to avoid: soda, cheese, ice cream, hot dogs, among many more! If you are anything like me you are now thinking about hitting the X on the top right of your screen because you are NOT and I repeat NOT giving up ice cream! Great news- you don’t need to give up your favorite foods, you can still enjoy the foods you love; you just need to eat less of them! Smaller portions are key to weight loss. Right? Then why did my beach body coach tell me you have to eat to lose weight?! Everything in moderation! Skipping meals and overly restricted calorie counts will lead to an increased appetite and low satiety because your body is preventing starvation.

Recap, eating too much can be bad; eating too little can be bad. Who can possibly know the right amount to eat?! Be aware of your personal needs. Your metabolic rate can be estimated by multiplying your body weight by 10, me for example (I can’t believe I am admitting this) I weigh 130lbs, I multiply that by 10 and I NEED to consume at least 1,300 calories a day, consuming less would be counterproductive. But, how much is too much? Active people need more calories, well duh; you also burn calories due to everyday living. Factor in your level of activity and how active you are throughout the day and you can have a rough idea of how many calories you burn, if you have a desk job and go home to watch television you won’t need many more calories each day. I for example have a desk job and do NOTHING at work, but I work out daily burning about 300 calories, I could safely add 400 calories to my needed daily consumption. My safe range for daily calories is then 1,300-1,700. Clear as mud right!

Shakeology Three Day Refresh

Getting back into the swing of things after the Holidays can be pretty rough, especially when it comes to eating habits. We all make those New Year resolutions to start eating healthy or lose X amount of pounds, but how many of us actually stick to it. How many of us find we even think about it a month into the New Year? Here is a great way to jump start your healthy eating after the holidays, the Shakeology 3-day Refresh. Shout out to my beachbody coach Billie Gervais for introducing me to this! I actually am on my third day of this right now and I strangely find myself craving yogurt (huge change from the typical chocolate cake!). I first started reading all the pamphlets I got when I ordered this challenge and all the testimonials talk about how great it was, and how they weren’t even hungry- they lied! I have been starving through this whole thing and find myself grabbing an extra orange here and there whenever I get a chance. “It’s only three days,” is what I keep telling myself, you can do this! Day 1- get your system going with 8-10 oz. of water, followed up by a Shakeology shake and 1 serving of fruit. Mid-morning you take the fiber sweep that is provided for you to help with your digestive system. Afternoon consists of the Vanilla Fresh shake that is also included in the refresh, 1 serving of fruit, 1 serving of vegetables, and 1 serving of a healthy fat. You are even allowed an afternoon snack; consisting of 1 serving of vegetables and one serving of a healthy fat. Dinner is a second Vanilla Fresh shake, 1 serving from the dinner recipe list, and 1 cup vegetable broth (optional). You also have the option of adding in unsweetened herbal tea in the morning, afternoon, and evening, but I opted out of this. Healthy fat examples are hummus, avocado, or coconut oil and a few dinner recipes are steamed veggies, roasted asparagus, or a spinach salad. Repeat this for three days and you’re done! The pounds lost help give you that extra boost to let you know that you CAN do this, beginning of day three and I am already down three pounds! A little bit of motivation never hurts. However I do have tacos waiting in my fridge for when I can eat again tomorrow. I just now know that smaller portions and healthier choices are the answer and I will not have to go through this torture again!

Let’s Get Started

To be completely honest I have no idea how to blog, or even what to blog about. Yay for assignments that take us out of our comfort zone! My family has always considered me to be the “Technology Expert” and I am starting to get seriously concerned with how out of touch they might be if they consider me the expert. However, I am ready to take a stab at this and get started on my blogging adventure! I have hesitantly started developing a passion for healthy living- I say hesitantly because I have no idea what I am doing, and to be honest it isn’t always fun! But it is a much needed change in my life so my feeble attempt will hopefully be a successful one. I think this blog will give me a great opportunity to learn a little more about healthy diets, exercise, and of course everybody’s favorite; multi-level marketing (i.e. Advocare, Shakeology, Thrive, etc.(I will admit I am a sucker for them all)).   MLM3
